A densely populated area in its path
The path of typhoon Khanun, which came from the eastern Philippines, is expected to bring it ashore this Wednesday in China's Zhejiang province, between Shanghai and Fujian, a major economic region with a population of over 65 million.
Huge amounts of rain expected
Typhoon Khanun is expected to bring very heavy rainfall to its path. By next Thursday, it could reach 300 to 400 mm in some places. These heavy rains could lead to flooding and landslides.
Khanun will be the third typhoon to hit China in less than three weeks, following the passage of Doksuri and Talim ten days ago.
